The Mission of the Workforce Development Component is to help all individuals reach self-sufficiency by preparing them to find, keep and succeed at jobs that pay a living wage. This component also includes our innovative asset-building IDA program.

CTE's Computer Centers
CTE's UBS Technology Lab offers a wide range of programs for our customers, including: individualized testing, basic keyboarding, and Computer Skills classes in the whole range of Microsoft Office applications. Customers are referred to the computer classes by their case managers and are tested by the computer instructor to determine their eligibility and existing skills. Classes are self-paced and include 78 hours of instruction in Microsoft Word and Excel.
English as a Second Language (ESL)
This program focuses on speaking and writing simple English. Emphasis is placed on preparing customers for America 's workplace.
Basic Skills
This program focuses on the basis of reading and writing simple English as well as basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Stamford Enterprise Zone Workforce Development Program
Through this program, funded by the Community Development Block Grant office of the City of Stamford , our Education and Training Coordinator assists businesses in the Stamford Enterprise Zone (the South End and Waterside) in identifying trained and/or qualified personnel from among Zone residents to fill job vacancies. The Coordinator helps match unemployed residents with appropriate training opportunities to prepare them for jobs.
